Going one further from this, I had a simillar problem with Paypal - someone payed me by Paypal and wanted to come 200 miles to collect a PS3 from me. They didn't supply a proper address and I told them I wouldn't let them have the goods. A chargeback ensued, rightly as a stolen credit card had been used, which was fine by me as I hadn't parted with the goods. Then, Paypal proceeded to charge me £7 for the chargeback process and then the full fee for using Paypal! I hadn't had any choice about accepting what I felt was a fraudulent payment in the first place. I took this up with Paypal and they have refunded me the £7 chargeback fee but are so far refusing to part with the fee for the transaction in the first place. This is robbery as they are directly profiting from a fraudulent transaction that they are a party to.

Zebedee, I'm in an almost identical situation, with a PS3 also! It turned out the card was a clone, and the cardholder himself had been fleeced of 2.5k by the scammer's transactions. Now Paypal are trying to steal this money from me, despite me having done nothing wrong. I'll go to the police with this inshallah and see what ensues but I took my money out of Paypal as soon as it hit the account - I never leave large amounts in there for this very reason. Did you make any progress getting your money back? If there has been a card fraud I firmly believe that's Paypal's responsibility - I don't even see the card how can I/we be at fault!?

You can be deemed to be at fault for not reading the regulations on paypal that required you to ship to the paypal address. 'Ship' using tracked delivery confirmation was the clue.

Duh, Soolin! I didn't ship to any address because I was smart enough to smell a rat with this buyer. I'm not trying to get my money back for the transaction as I didn't part with the goods, I just don't see why I should pay the Paypal fee for a transaction from which I didn't benefit. They will then be profitting from a fraud.

HotRod, I'm not doing well so far. They keep ignoring my emails.
