Wrong type of GAS meter

We are currently switching over to nPower and they have written to us 3 days before the switch to say we can no longer get the web14 tariff because of the type of gas meter we have. Furthermore that they will only be offering their standard tariff, which is higher than what we are paying now! Does anyone have any idea whether this could be right as I have only been able to find information on "wrong type of electric meter".

Any advice much appreciated before I call them up!

I sadly don't have to hand the type of gas meter I have but would appreciate if anyone else had had this problem - the search yielded no results!

Do you currentley have a prepayment meter? If yes, that offer is not available to prepayment customers. If not, they have the wrong meter details. Give them a call with your meter's serial number (found on the front of the meter) and your Meter Point Referance number (you supplier can tell you that) and let them know.
If you are on a prepayment meter, you will have to have your meter changed before you can have this tarrif. npower charge £70 to swap gas meters.
