well i have a basic account with lloyds and had everything going in around £2100 a month and they refused to upgrade me a year ago so i opened a hsbc account with £100 o/d £100 CG card and a loan of £1000 i have kept both accounts in good order
i have been with lloyds for 6 years and apart from not upgrading my account (so i dont have to find a lloyds atm as it dont work with any others) i like the bank however i think i will shift the £650 a month i have going into the account all over to hsbc if they would just upgrade the card im happy with the account
my account is due a review on the 16th do i wait or do i just close today!!
is there anything else that would help me upgrade??

the "review" you're due on the 16th is most likely to try and sell you their premium account.
if you go in to your local branch and say "i'd like to talk to someone about upgrading my account", £££signs will show up in their eyes and they'll lead you into a side room. from there, say you'd like a basic "classic" account. If that doesn't work, ask about their introductory offers to the paid-accounts. I think you can take their silver account for £2 a month for 3 months (after that it goes to £7 or thereabouts). Upgrade to that, then downgrade it to a free classic one in a months' time0 -
thanks bill i cant go to the branch at the moment as im looking after my son who has the dreaded chicken pox but will ring them see what they say!you cant change yesterdaybut you can make tomorrow better0

i wouldn't always think of a review or new appointment so cynical.
i went in to my local abbey and asked to ope a account was asked what type and i said i just wanted a basic one and produced my salary statement as part of my id .
the consultant asked me the pupose of the account i explain it would be my main account and would pay my salary in .
The girl just said no problems keyed the account didnt torture me in to anything else .
since then i have open a fixed rate monthly saver and internet easy access account.
i must say i was really impressed with her help and helpfull waysLbm Spoke to Payplan August 2009 £29000.00

I've been with Lloyds TSB a few years up until 2 weeks ago. I turned 18 and asked Lloyds TSB to upgrade my account to a standard adults current account (was under 19's account beforehand). They refused and said I wasn't earning enough nor was I eligible for a standard current account. I walked out of Lloyds TSB and into HSBC where they gave me a HSBC Plus Account with £100 Cheque Guarantee Card and half price fee for 6 month on the account. I'm sticking with HSBC now and moving all of my payments over.
Lloyds TSB are a great bank. Their telephone banking is great, however they slip up on a few things, which unfortunately has lost them my custom.0 -
Lloyds TSB are a great bank.
Particularly if you're Sudanese, Libyan or Iranian! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7821600.stm0
