Belkin Routers and BT Broadband...

Options
Not so quick one...

Anybody had experience trying to get a BT business account running on a Belkin G Router?

Problem is... my old man has a business account with a BT Voyager modem. Connects to the net ok. Replaces it with a Belkin G router and a couple of wireless cards for his machines, machines see the network ok. When trying to connect to the net it gives a disconnect / login details incorrect error message. Checked all the settings on the Belkin along side the Voyager and all are the same, PPPOA 0.38. Had the misfortune to speak to somebody a B*llocks Telecom who suggested that a ) i must be typing something in incorrectly after the @ (hg57.btclick.com ain't really that difficult) or b ) there's a problem with the router.
While i was on to her at BT she gave me a test account to try and that connected ok, then she gave me another test account at hg57.btclick.com and that wouldn't connect.

Is there a problem, that anybody knows about, with Belkin routers that don't like connecting to 'double' domains? or has anybody got a scoobie what to try next....

cheers

    Any Use :confused:http://www.petebarrwatson.com/archives/2004/01/belkin_54g_adsl.html

Is there any stored settings that need to be wiped and then freshly entered.?
  • Cheers Cyrix but no use, i've got the settings right, BT even gave me a test account to try and it connected ok but not to the BT click domain, which kinda tells me the router is ok but doesn't like h57.btclick.com.
Got it at mine now to try when i can be arsed.

Is he running VPN and is a Belkin 54g router/modem?

There are issues with some of their routers when running VPN...kills the connection....not sure if it will relate to your problem but its worth a check

  • nah mate, no VPN just a straight BB connection
  • ive connected someone using a belkin and bt business and i seem to remember that thri username/password were really long mixtures of letters/numbers completely unintelligible from their email username. Are you sure youve got those correct?
  • yep gunneradt, typed them in more times than i can remember, even copied and pasted from the Voyager config page.
  • ok - can assure it you works ok though so there must be another problem
