Clearing information on Firefox

In the past, by clocking on Tools and Clear Private Data on Firefox it was possible literally to do that. However, following a recent update, I can no longer clear the viewing history on the drop down address bar on the browser page when using XP, although when using Linux this is not a problem. Any idea of how to tweak this? It always used to be possible!!

The keyboard shortcut for this is Ctrl+Shift+Del
edit: I just re-read your post. You can do this bit right? It's just not doing everything it used to. espresso got the point.0 -
I am doing everything right. Everything else clears, but the drop down menu on the main page still shows viewing history!0

Are you sure they aren't the addresses from your bookmarks?0

Hadn't thought of that. In the drop down, they have a huge yellow star against them and all are indeed bookmarked. If this is the case, how can I remove them from the drop down menu. Again, I stress, this never used to happen! However, Firefox recently upgraded (sic) this part of their program. But I want these cleared from the drop down. Surely there has to be a way of doing that!0

This was an addition to v3.0. I didn't like it either, silly Mozilla!0 -

Thanks very much for that. Will have a look at it later, but this seems to fix the problem. I wish Firefox hadn't updated its browser; a lot of the changes weren't needed and are horrible!0
