Best HiFi separates Unit for £300 or so

I've been looking at the Richer Sounds separate units (which always seem to get a good write-up) but have just realised they don't play tape cassettes and you have to buy an additional phono unit to connect a turntable.

Is there a unit around that will play CDs, tape and allow input from records and my iPod?

Or am I asking a lot nowadays?

    ringo.. you are correct..

seperates are just that.. one unit for an amp, one for a tuner (or get a receiver, which is amp and tuner in one) one for cd, one for cassettes, one for LP's, and so on and so forth..

The basic seperates is a stereo amp, a source like a CD player and a pair of speakers.

You can buy amps with loads of inputs on them, and some with just one set. if your looking to add multiple inputs then you need to buy an amp that will accept them all. a simple phono to 3mm headphones socket will allow you to connect your ipod to it for playback.
The cheapest they have that will do what you want is the Teac AG7090 it has a built in radio tuner and connections for a turntable with preamp a loop for a tape deck and then 2 other pairs of inputs for a cd player and your ipod via the method above. then you will need the tape deck and turntable and probably a CD player. ohh and speakers. I think your budget is blown Im afraid, how mush will you use a tape deck? I can't remember the last time I used mine.

Your a bit behind the times Wade :p
Any amp worth its salt will have phonos to connect a tapedeck (Which would have to be another seperate im afraid) and the ipod (Which will need a set of phono leads)
As for the record deck, theres VERY few amps these days that have phono inputs for them. So you would need to buy a seperate 'phono stage' which would then plug into standard phonos on an amp
