He can claim from Royal Mail if that's how he sent it, as long as he has his stamped receipt0

The seller will only be covered by Royal Mail for £36 if they have proof of posting. You will be covered by paypal, its the sellers problem, they used an inappropriate service for a £120 item.0

Thanks lolarentt for the quick reply
I only ask the question because i always send my items recorded. What advantages do recorded have over sending it 2nd class except tracking and faster delivery, I cant believe someone would send something 2nd class if its worth over £100.0 -
Recorded has no advantage in delivery time, it goes with the normal 1st or second class post. Recorded only has delivery confirmation it is not tracked.0

Very silly sending it 2nd class. Unless you have insurance only covered for 100x the cost of the initial stamp of the service. So his only going to get back £27. If they become difficult you should start a paypal claim. Even if he'd send it recorded probably would lose the money. It probably wouldn't of been signed for so no evidence for being delivered.0

Recorded delivery DOESN'T give you tracking I'm afraid, just a signature showing it was signed for by somebody somewhere. And you can use 'recorded delivery' for 2nd class post as well. For tracking you need 'Special Delivery' which starts from £4.60 (compensation up to £500)0 -
......I'm not really a postal anorak, it's just that my partner is a Royal Mail manager!0

Interesting!!
What happens if you send a item and it was signed for yet the buyer says it hasnt be received? anyone can forge a signature!!
Special delivery seems worth it for £100+ items0 -

Quite right! Recorded delivery is just what it says and only that - it has been delivered somewhere. However it's usually enough to stop dishonest buyers from claiming they haven't received goods when they have, as it sounds more comprehensive than it is. It's only 72p on top of 1st or 2nd class post so you wouldn't expect a lot.0 -
thats all for answering my questions0
