Junk mail made me smile

Got a post through for "the vanquis visa card" with the slogan on the front...

"We'd like to give you the credit you deserve"

More junk mail i thought, turned the envelope rounds and was astonished to read

"typical 39.9% APR variable"

That will be filed away, in the bin (after checking there are no pre filled in forms or junk like that!

Am tempted to call them and say they should give me more credit that that as i will be staying away rom there sucky card!

It saddens me to think though, that hundreds have probably received the same letter, but have not read the apr!

Do a search on the vanquis credit card instead of posting rubbish. Im tired of people complaining about them.

No I dont work for them, Yes I have one, No im not stupid and they have actually been very nice to me and many others on this board.

No one suggesting your stupid but to be fair its an extortionate APR even if you allow for the risks involved. if you are happy with Vanquis fine but for many on here this would be a disaster getting involved with a card or vredit at thsi sort of rate.

  • JW, your experience of them must be good, I don't have a card with them and with an APR of nearly 40% I've no intention of getting one, but I can see for some people who are desperate enough ie need to get hold of credit at any cost it being a major disaster if they can not clear a balance in full every month. I see them aiming at people with debts and just adding to them with their extortionate APR. However I can also see the logic of someone applying for one to repair their credit rating I just hope anyone who is tempted to do this never ever fails to clear their balance off every month.
  • Yes,the APR is bad but some people on MSE have reported getting 29.9% or thereabouts which is the same as Captital One's credit builder card. Don't forget, if you get a card like Vanquis and pay the balance off in full every month you won't get charged any interest -and it will help improve your credit rating.
