Hmmm not having the best of days so far. Sky went off earlier today so I've been on the phone to them most of the afternoon. Not been able to fix it but they want me to pay them £65 for an engineer to come out and look at it!

Don't see why I should when I already fork out a good amount a month and I'm not getting the service I'm paying for. They say it's because the Sky Box is over a year old. I've told them I'll have to have a think about it but reckon they've got me by the balls really. I can't afford to pay them £65!

Looks like me and technology aren't working well together in 2009!

Apart from that I'm happy :)

Tell them that having given it due consideration you'd like to cancel your subscription. That should make them bend over backwards. If not, cancel it for a couple of months then resubscribe if you haven't found a better alternative or really can't live without it...

I'm sure when in the same situation and i ended up with a reconditioned box if mine couldn't be repaired... did have to pay for engineer but he gave me the box... so might work out cheaper....

can you borrow a box from someone to check if it isn't the box? as long as got your viewing card in it, would it work?

Threaten to leave, apparently it works wonders!!!

what kinda not working? can we troubleshoot?!
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

Check if it's just a fault with the box itself, if so then you could ask on freecycle for one or check on ebay, I sold a spare one on there for £30 - still a lot cheaper than £65.

But do tell them you might cancel, we got a years free line rental (worth £120) when we asked about cancelling last month.

I sometimes dream of romance. It's 10 years since I chucked my old man out and it had been well and truly dead for a long while even then.:rotfl:
It's never going to happen with my life now I suppose. :(

    So much for being positive.

Never give up Bookie. I didnt know a month ago that I would have someone 20 years younger than me declaring undying love while......
.....pity shes in bloody Greece now!

Cant name a really romantic thing TO me:confused: , In 2004 I bought OH her dream car, brand new, out of the blue ( PT Cruiser ) and just sent her a picture message of it saying 'hello Mummy'......does that count.

Flowers just about every week? Better shut up now, I may begin to feel bitter and I am resolved against that!!
    Shut up Pepe.
    :D:D stay wonky :D:D

....one-way ticket to Portugal booked !
