R4 DS or M3 DS Real?

Looking to get one of these for our youngest - always losing her carts! How different are they and lots of discussion about 'fake/problems' with R4 types? Some pointers on these before we take the plunge would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

  • We all have R4 card (2 adults + 3 children) and never had a problem ever with them. We have had them 6 months now. We brought these ones:

Kingston 2GB Micro SD Memory Card TF and R4 Adapter

    (i think it was £14.99 or £17.99)

I have since read about the fake/problem ones etc.. but can honestly say we have never had a problem.

  • Hi I have recently invested in R4's for DS with 2gig micro SD.
Works well brought mine from Memory Bits £20 ( discount at moment is 15% off = under £17) as they seem to be reputable. Full name is R4 Revolution SHDC. There can be problems I hear with clones. Mine work and I now have three!!

Uses software called Moonshell to run. This is called Homebrew. Open Source type stuff. This allows everthing to work.
"Backing up" your DS games that you own is somewhat difficult and can be rather time consuming. The card can hold 30 odd games. Size dependant.

You can use MP3's, Vidoes, Photos as well as games. There are plenty of programs that do all sorts for the DS that you can freely download as they are Homebrew.

There is Organiser, Paint thing, Media player like Ipod, MSN chat clone, web broswers. Check out you tube for demo's.

    Well worth it!!

We have DSTT cards with 8gig memory cards, good for storing films when I eventually get round to it. Excellent stuff, no problem with game loading times.
  • Thanks all, I've ordered up the R4 Revolution - fingers crossed that it works ok!
