Hi all
just checking in on the challenge. currently owing £229,133. Aim is to reduce it to 100k or less by 12/12/12.
goodluck everyone !!MFiT-T2 Questee number 1460 -
Thanks for your response about my blog guys - feel a bit silly thinking it was down to the number of followers!! :embarasse But then I suppose the more followers you have, there's more chance of someone clicking on one of the ads every now and agian!!
No, don't think it's going to help with my 12/12/12 challenge in that case - will just stick to it being my mortgage free challenge diary (with a few other bits 'n' bobs thrown in!!) so do please follow me in any case.
Will just be chuffed at the 76p I've made so far then - not that I'l ever get my hands on it if it only stays at that amount!!
btw - 15 days to go!!! This is more exciting than Christmas!!! :j

Hi All
Progress this month...
1. Got to grips with the spreadsheet from locostfireblade posted as a link in [calculating repayment mortgage interest] page1 post#4 For mortgage interest rate on this spreadsheet 0.05 = 5% for example. Took my simple mind ages to figure that out!!!
2.Set up overpayment on mortgage. SCARY BIG FIGURES.
3.Paid off 0% intrest loan to 'free up' monthly cash towards BIG SCARY FIGURE. Not sure whether this was the right thing to do??? Anybody?
4.Agreed the new household budgets and how they could be achieved with Mrs Someday Soon. When flagging we took bundles of inspiration from reading the roll of honour.
5. Checked the current mortgage balance, we have to request a redemption figure to do this, and was surprised to see the overpayments made this year (piddling compared to BIG SCARY FIGURE) had put us £400 or so better than we thought. Still one BSF to come off on 1st December which puts us ahead of target.
6. Became a little obsessed, distracted, dull, irritable.
7. Wrote this.
Good Luck Everyone!!Completely Debt Free 2009:j

Hello everyone
I'm going to have to drop out of this I'm afraid. I'm currently 13 weeks pregnant with our first child and so I'm not going to be able to give everything to this challenge. Maybe if there's another one running in a couple of years I'll join it then but at the moment we're trying frantically to save every penny for me to have as long off as possible for maternity leave, then I'm hoping to be able to return part time for a couple of years. We're absolutely thrilled & very excited, but our mortgage free plans will have to be put on hold, and I don't want to feel as though I'd be letting anyone else down if we didn't hit our challenge.
I'll still be reading the thread though & wishing you all best of luck on it!

Edit - ps. I'm number 36 on the chart if anyone else wants to take my place?0 -

Some things are more important than being mortgage free and this is definitely one of them.

Bec,
That is excellent news. :j
As DT says - it's not just about being hell bent on being mortgage free and I can understand the reasons for you wanting to drop out. There's always the 2010 MFW thread to consider joining next year sometime?
I'll offer #36 to the next person to sign up!

Tattycath,
Don't forget you can use the update form to pass on balance updates:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dGtzMTdvS1VnNXUwakpPc3NjZzRHMVE6MA
With nearly 175 challengers, I could have seen my PM box fill up very quickly - update form avoids this.
