Just been having a look through the challengers so far, and compared with everyone else we have a scarily high mortgage, more than a £100k more in more cases.
All the more reason to get it paid off as soon as possible.
This challenge is going to be huge by Dec if people keep joining at this rate. Its going to be great. Roll on Dec!0 -

Hi Welshlassie,
As long as you can afford your mortgage, I suppose it really doesn't matter what size it is...
I'm quite stunned (in a good way) by the level of interest. In less than a week, we've 18 challengers. If one person joins every other day, then there could be about 170 challengers by December.
In practice, I suspect that things may quieten down for a while, before a mad rush to register as we approach December
I've already had two e-mails saying my PM quota has been used up

Hi FB,
Can you add me to the list?
I am currently #157 in the 2009 MFW challenge and hoping to reduce mortgage to £88,000 in 2009 after starting the year at £97,343.
I'll continue with the 2009 MFW challenge until December.
Based on last year's reduction (see sig) and the planned reduction for this year, I am going to aim for reducing the mortgage from £88,000 to £52,000 by 12/12/2012.
Also, this is a really good idea for those of us who were unable to join the original challenge and are now hooked on becoming mortgage free, so thanks FB and Maz123 :beer:0 -
....I assume these are for your daughter rather than you, but, who knows with weather like this keeping us house "bound"?
Seriously though, best wishes in your endeavours.
Hi Stuart and Happy New Year to you.
Yes, tights for my 7 year old. Sadly M&S had no grey tights in stock, but on the upside I have since found the two or three missing pairs buried deep in a pile of "stuff" so we can get through the rest of the Winter without any more. Yay!
Maz - it's camping for us too this year! Not that we have plans. Or even thoughts of when or where. Or even a tent come to think of it. Yet I jest since a tent is on this weekend's shopping list, courtesy of our slightly belated Xmas pressie from my kind parents.0 -

Hello FB and Maz123,
I'd like to join this challenge please. I'll set a target nearer the time though as I've no idea what to set it at until the new offset mortgage is up & running......other than "as much as possible"!
Many thanks

Hi,
Quick update - I've changed the chart from a JPEG to a PNG image as the PNG is displaying the text better.
I've also added some brief analysis at the bottom of the chart by way of min, max and average values, eg we're collectively aiming to reduce our mortgages by an average of £44,992 each currently.
Little Mama - I've also allocated you as #20.

Hi FB / Maz,
ok, count me in. An update every 3 months is the kind of thing I can keep up with
As I've mentioned to you before FB, I should be MF during the time period anyhow having been overpaying for a few years now, but it'll be fun to join in the banter and cajole others along.
As a rough guide our mortgage should be down to £30.5k by 12/12/09 (currently £47k) and we're actually aiming to have it all gone by Aug 11 but I spose (hope) this thread will help spur me on to earlier repayment. I'll give more accurate figures near year end as things may change before then anyhow.
:T0 -
Can I join this challenge? I have a fairly large mortgage (currently around £119,000) which I am paying all on my lonesome. I think a fairly optimistic target would be to get it below £100,000 by 12/12/12.0
