  • The Google docs chart looks brilliant, much easier to read. I'm still a little confused as to how to update it though. I used Fb's link to update my figures, though this is going to be slightly lower by the time 12/12/09 comes round. However, I wouldn't know how to update this figure directly on Google docs? Or indeed how to add my quarterly balances. Any advice? Thanks.

    Hi SPS1,

I can see that at 22.03 and 57 seconds you used the form to pass a balance on. Thanks to you and the others who supplied a test update. Will probably cross check with the chart to see if the updates fill in any blanks and do an update from the data received.

As I think I've mentioned a few times already, I'm still finding my feet with this stuff, but compared to the photobucket approach where I had to update a local spreadsheet, copy to memory, paste into paint, save to PC, log in to photobucket and then upload the saved image, Google docs wins hands down.

I'm still learning, but you can share documents from within Google docs or publish them as a read-only resource. I published the to-be chart 01 the other day to test the water and the feedback seems to suggest everyone thinks it's better than the photobucket image approach.

Similarly, I created a form last night and published that. It currently saves data to an 'Online updates' sheet within the overall MFiT-T2 spreadsheet.

So, how does this fit into the plan?

Think I will use the Google form as an option for updates, plus you can also send a personal message (PM) to me on or around 12th December.

I'll also update the questions and answers (post #2) with some information once I've finalised everything, but there's still a few weeks yet, so don't worry! ;)

Still finding my feet with Google docs. I've currently got the input form feeding into a new sheet within the document and not directly to the chart as I couldn't immediately see how to do that. Plus there is a risk
that someone attemts to update another persons details.

Still, this form input provides another way of giving us feedback as it's likely our mailboxes will become full at times. I'll need to do more experimenting over the coming weeks.

@SuiDreams - Google docs is blocked from work here too, so I'll have to wait until this evening to see the data that has been passed back.

Don't worry if you've not filled out the form - still experimenting and finding my feet with this stuff - all pretty new to me, but should be useful for the challenge.

I put my details in last night but it didn't change them.
I have never used a spreadsheet in my life so please excuse me being thick.
When I clicked that other link it did show me the spreadsheet.
  • Thank you for all your time putting this together Financialbliss......the great thing is you'll be so busy you won't have any time to spend!

Good afternoon, (just) and a big welcome to all newbies.
There's only 58 days to go, can't believe its come round so quick.
I'm having to change my targets (see earlier post) and so my starting target is now going to be £51000 due to completion of building work :D (indooor water feature has now ended!) and slight spending spree:p

My goal for 12/12/12 will be to reach £25000 this has now got a nice new spreadsheet for me to play on.

This is a more achievable goal without me working extra hours which was the original plan but due to ill health i'm unable (or unwilling) to do.

thanks for all the well wishes but i only just feel like i've joined the world again!

May I join in? I'm still in the original MFi3 group but will still have a mortgage balance outstanding at the end of that (I'm just not sure what it will be yet) so would appreciate being part of another challenge.

I don't know what my balance will be at the start of the challenge so will have to update that nearer the time, but I'll set my goal at paying off £20K as this is what i have managed to do for the MFi3 challenge and although circumstances may change we can hopefully manage that. I'd like to pay the whole thing off but suspect that may be slightly unrealistic in just three years. Worth a try, though!!

    deefadog,

In my own diary, there's a little sheet that you may find of interest. It can be found here:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=16772703&postcount=712

If you enter your annual reduction, it will (roughly) work out the monthly amount needed. I've used this in the past to work out what I'd need to pay monthly to get where I wanted to be.

Shouldn't take long to set up.

Thank you for the link. not sounding ungrateful :D But i wanted something that detailed the months as i will be topping up different amounts each week on top of the regular overpayment.

Also The mortgage started in Sep 2006 - 123,780.00 - Then in the may 2007 i paid off a lump sum of 20k, but kept the monthly payment the same, so have been overpaying since then - but want to increase.

Checked to day and the balance is 95,800.57
  • I can't wait til it's 12/12/09, better still 12/12/12!! Is it bad to be wishing my life away??
