Our end of month accounts have been done, and we've had a decent March to build upon Feb's efforts. We have coloured another square on our house on fridge and are really enthused with our efforts so far.

Good luck all, keep working away!!

I'll be colouring another square this month also, but doing the computer equivalent of tippexing out a load next month as another 6.5k going on new kitchen

    Hi All

Aren't we doing well - excellent news.

Paid all my bonus into our mortgage account. Feels good. Without this thread not sure I'd have done that. So thanks everyone..

Less good news but very exciting is that we are planning to put some additional borrowing against the house - for a camper vehicle which will really suit our lifestyle and will mean holiday accommodation costs go massively down. Not sure how I will revisit my objective to deal with this (other than running twice as hard!) but anyway will formulate a plan..!

Fantastic Brizzledfw, that's our aim too! We want to pay the mortgage off asap so we can buy a camper/motorhome and do lots of travelling. Good luck with that :) On another positive note, £16.50 OP made today, not so good, Mr Fox killed all my chickens and my lovely Golden Silkie cockerel last night :( Will now have to buy some more chickens and DH is looking into an electric fence for them. More expense

oh Kipper that it is so miserable..we lost a beautiful Barbu Duccle (sp?) this time last year to a cheeky urban fox - feisty Light Sussex escaped! Problem with Silkies is that they just can't see danger....bless em.

Have you thought about getting eggs and incubating? Must be much cheaper.

Sorry all and FB for hijacking this thread to turn into a temporary chicken owners piece..

Yes very excited re camper..its the way to go!! Blooming expensive though..they went down massively in late 2008 when no one could shift them on account of the recession but rocketed back up in price now.

Well getting more chickens this weekend, bil also getting some so will work out a bit cheaper for us. DH has been given some electric fence so not too expensive after all. We also have 2 dogs (collies) but the weather has been so wet and windy they've been curled up in front of the woodburner all week! On the bright side DH has received a bit more for a job than expected so another £50 OP!

    Morning All,

The first of the month and yet another step closer to mortgage freedom!! Just the 242 days and 8 more payments to go now as today's £2,625 portion puts us a third of the way toward our 2010 target.

    Cheers,

  • Hi all, I've copied this from my diary but wanted to post here too. Sorry to hear about the chickens... I'd love some but Mrs Ging isn't keen :(.

    FINANCIAL UPDATE.

We had a great pay day yesterday (with both of us getting extra payments) and then found out that both credit cards (which are paid off each month) were signififcantly less than we thought they would be. Plus our easter break has ended up cheaper than we budgeted for an so all this means that we already have the £15K I want to for a month's time :T.

Currently our mortgage stands at £146,076.18 so my new goal is to have saved £16,076.18 to make it a nice round number!

Our total debt currently stands at £139,660.07 which means....
    1) We're under the £140K mark :j
    2) We have achieved the figure needed for our MFiT target so currently 2 months ahead of paying our mortgage off in three years :j:j
    3) For our pay £50,000 off this year we have so far achieved 29% of that goal.
    4) Since our get real date in October 2008 we have paid off £38k or 21% of our debts :j:j:j:j

I know it probably seems silly/sad having all these targets but having goals really spurs me on and it's not something that come naturally to me so I have to keep reminding myslef of what we trying to achieve and why.

    Ging x
