Welcome to the forum. How did you manage to upgrade to SP2 ? Was it via a network connection ? How long did it take?
I don't think burning a CD is going to work. You have to know what to put on the CD in the first place. If Microsoft were bold enough to publish an online image of XP SP2 then burning a CD would be the way to go. I am XP ignorant by choice.

You need to download The Administrative Version of service pack 2.0

Hi David, do you mean you've updated TO SP2, or are there now updates to SP2 - I've ordered mine on CD and am still waiting.
Seem to recall that, after SP1 came out, (at least) one of the pc mags had it on their free cover CD.0 -
If you need to download updates released after SP2 then try this:
Simply go to Microsoft's Security Bulletins Site and you can browse manually all the security bulletins for a given month.
Each bulletin will give you the affected system - and contained within it should be a download link for specific setups (XP SP1, or XP SP2 etc). You should eventually get to the point where you get a 'Download' link.
This is not always the easiest thing to navigate through - but thats what Windows Update was written for I guess.0 -
Anyone on dialup beware, the full SP2 update (administrative version, link above) is approx 270meg!How do I add a signature?0
-
Very true - but it does contain every possible file / patch needed to apply the service pack so is therefore machine independant - rather than just selecting the ones needed for the specific PC that the web update service is running on. (Thats why is so much bigger (if anyone cares:-) )
Thats also why you get the option to order it on CD and can get it from magazine coverdisks etc.0 -

and the CD might arrive by the time SP3 is released ::)How do I add a signature?0 -
think you might be a bit optimistic there - but probably quicker than downloading a lot on dial up (and - the CD's free, internet connection isn't - hey, this a money saving site!?!)0

Cost of the internet connection isn't a consideration if you have access to a high speed connection elsewhere (w**k for example

Have internet access at work but no CD burner!
