Outpost Firewall And Security Suite Lifetime Upgrades

I have used Outpost Firewall for many years now and am very happy with it.

They are currently offering a Lifetime Upgrade License for installation on 3 computers at $39.95 for the firewall and $49.95 for the security suite which includes firewall, anti virus and spyware. There is VAT added on to these prices (at the rate of 19% for some reason).

Whilst not as cheap as the same deal I got a few years back due to the current exchange rate (mine worked out at about £25) it is still a pretty good deal. It really does mean lifetime with free updates to virus database etc and new versions of the software forever.

Available until 31st Jan.

Has anybody used the full internet suite? Just wondered how resource efficient it is and whether the anti-virus is any good. I know the firewall is pretty good and scores quite high in tests (matousec.com). I need to sort out a new internet security suite for my parents at the end of the month and just wondered whether or not to go for this (or stick with my original choice of Eset Smart Security).

I'd stick with ESET. Besides I've been burnt by Agnitum in the past (if I knew then what I know now I'd have taken them to court to get my money back) personally and now wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

Thanks for that. Think I will end up going with Eset, the thought of lifetime updates just seemed quite appealing (especially because it's going on my parents pc).

My personal experience a few years ago (so not saying it even applies now) was that after I got an update (automatic minor update not an upgrade) to the outpost pro firewall it wouldn't revalidate my license. Because validation happens online even trying to reinstall the previous version no longer accepted my license. I never got it resolved because agnitum basically said it wasn't their problem (they just passed me off from one regional office to another) and wouldn't fix/reissue my license (that I'd paid for). When I asked for money back instead they refused to even respond. So it was actually the very updates you find appealing that was the source of my problems with them.

I cut my losses and went elsewhere for security, nowadays I'd have pursued the matter more seriously one way or another on principle.
