Double glazing in Derbyshire / Nottinghamshire

Hi,
Just wondered if anyone could recommend any good local double glazing firms in the Derbyshire / Nottinghamshire area please? Or have you had a bad experience with any of these local firms who you would recommend I should avoid?
Any idea how much it would cost to get a house re-double glazed (upvc) + new front door?
6 windows - * 3 small * 3 medium * 1 large
1 door - * front door
I don't have the exact sizes as yet but will post them soon when I do.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, BH09

Hello BH09
I have used 2 companies in the past that I can recommend. I live in Nottingham and have used Trent Valley Windows ( Glaidsdale Drive ) and Lifestyle Windows ( Ilkeston ).
With Trent Valley I had all my windows and doors done around 10 years ago and they were brilliant. The sales chap will quote you a price per window /door and doesn't depend on what you have done. They use their own fitters and use the Kommelink profile ( german ) which is of very good quality. They are also good at sorting out problems as I have had to call them out a couple of times over the last couple of years. They will definately be a bit more expensive but well worth considering as the quality and support is good.
I used Lifestyle Windows for my conservatory. I did haggle with the sales chap and his manager and walked away with an excellent deal. I think they were desparate for the business. Again I am happy with the quality of there windows. There support is a reasonable. Not as sharp as Trent.
Through contacts, I have heard that profiles by Kommerlink, Rehau and ones used by Staybright ( I think )are good. Anglian Windows are also good quality windows but haggle hard.
Good Luck and hope the info has been of some use.
Regards

I had 7 windows of medium to small size for £1700 in 06, and I've just been quoted £500 for a door by the same company.
Large window now they're quoting £400, which I think is dear.
All supply and fit.
Midlands area, but not local enough to you I'm afraid, but should be a good idea of pricing.0 -
Hi.
The windows and doors have concrete window frames.
Here are a approx sizes for the windows and doors which we would want:
9 x WINDOWS
Window (1) = W: 1.96 m x H: 1.49 m (2 openers)
Window (2) = W: 1.45 m x H: 1.19 m (2 openers)
Window (3) = W: 0.60 m x H: 1.02 m (1 opener)
Window (4) = W: 0.505m x H: 1.35 m (no openers)
Window (5) = W: 0.48 m x H: 1.18 m (no openers)
Window (6) = W: 0.47 m x H: 1.18 m (1 opener)
Window (7) = W: 1.47 m x H: 1.20 m (2 openers)
Window (8) = W: 0.97 m x H: 1.20 m (1 opener)
Window (9) = W: 1.97 m x H: 1.21 m (2 openers)
2 x DOORS
Door (1) = W: 0.995m x H: 2.02 m (half glazed)
Door (2) = W: 0.86 m x H: 2.03 m (half glazed)
We would be looking for white upvc double glazing, internally beaded etc. We would also be looking for a coloured front door (not sure if this changes price at all).
If anyone is able to give me an idea on what a fair price for this, I would be very grateful.

Also, I have seen this front door image which i like. Any idea how much this sort of style would set me back?

Hi,
In with my quotes i have asked to have a coloured front door. I was told this meant i would have to have a composite door. Is this right? What is the difference between a composite door and a standard upvc door? The difference in price seems to be an extra £250-300. Are they actually worth the extra?
Thanks,
BH090 -
yes they are worth the extra if its made in a similiar way to the rockdoors if they are made from blanks or timber cored steer clear.you can get standard upvc doors colour bonded (sprayed like car bumper) but i wouldnt recommendif you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction0

your 9 windows & 2 doors would cost approx £3000 + VAT if we were to supply although obviously we are not local to your area
Should give you a good price guide thoughI`m now officially too old to die young0
