Digital photo frame or Asus?

I've been looking at digital photo frames with 800x600 resolution and they are about £60 upwards.

It just occurred to me that I might get a similar effect from something like a Asus EEE PC 900 set to show my photos on the screensaver - and I would have the benefit of a mini WiFi laptop when I am on the move.

I wonder what people think of this idea, would it work?

Erm well yes it would work but would be more expensive. If you could cope with a 7" screen there are some web books available in the sub £150 price range.

You could also get a cheap secondhand laptop off ebay with an even higher resolution, but the battery may be shot
