Dixons - Help and Advise Needed!

I bought a HP IPAQ rz1710 about 13 months ago. When I got it home the screen was cracked. After a stand up argument with the Shop Manager, I got it replaced. I told him that as he failed to show me that the product was not damaged, he could not prove it wasn't.
Anyway, now the thing will not hold a charge. Even though I only use it to check if I am available for meetings, rather than writing emails etc. I can charge it up, and within an hour it is dead.
The Shop Manager does not want to know.... Other Dixons say I have to go to the original shop. Customer Services do not seem to care, as I failed to take out their Coverplan, and it is over 12 months from the date of purchase (although I bought a PC last June from them, with a coverplan.) Everytime I call them, I get put on hold, I always hang up after 30 mins which costs about £3.
I still have an IPAQ that doesn't work!
HELP!

Why should you go to the original Dixons shop? Surely you should be able to take it back to any branch of Dixons? If there is nothing stated anywhere to this effect then they shouldnt be able to make you take it back to the original store!
As it is over 12 months old though I am not sure where you stand - I would of thought that you are probably only covered for 12 months and from then on tough luck as far as the shop is concerned unless you have bought additional cover!Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
Sounds like the battery has died, The batteries only have a finite life - normally about 300 charge cycles - I am sure they would say this is normal wear and tear unless you can prove that it is not the battery. Try ebay and buy a cheap replacement battery for it.0

If it is the battery, it would probably not be covered still as batteries come with a much shorter warranty (usually 3 months).0

Batteries have a very finite lifetime - possibly modern applicances are making more and more demands on them. Best bet is to take the battery out and search on the web for a replacement. Sometimes the replacememnts are much better than the originals (ore power and therefore last longer). What type of battery is it?
