if you spend a bit more on a cylinder, you can get anti-pick, anti bump,anti-snap/snapsafe, a decent locksmith can still get around these but the average burglar will take one look and rob someone else0

exactly.
also most scum just smash the glass/doors in. they are not known for their finesse.
and may i ask how many burglaries you go to on a regular basis? in order to ascertian how entry was gained
As ive said this sort of information should be sent pm the widespread knowledge over the internet about the bumping of locks is fueled by people just like people who have posted on here, idiots  ! i know most ways to get in but would never post such stuff on the internet .lets do a post next on the easiest way to by pass a burglar alarm or how to fool a car tracking device and put it on this forum .in any case it still hasnt been found out wether the problem lies with the barrel or the locking mechanism (which is more likely)many times when doing this if only the lock is sticking and not damaged it can be opened and adjusted as in my first post without the need for damaging both barrel and lock after all i thought this was a money saving forum rather than lets use brute force and cost ourselves money after all if the door having dropped has called this problem the original poster will be in the same situation after damging the lock/barrell then replacing .if the door cannot be removed from its hinges then the closing side should be levered up and try opening first at the very leastif you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction0 -

Not quite sure if you are calling me an idiot so I will say no more other than it was not I who gave clues to other methods. On the subject of forced entries and break ins I probably see more in a week than many see in a year. The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -

no you gave the method and then wondered in another post wether you should have posted it how clever are you
Obviously you misread what I said. I said I did have doubts at first but looking at the information available elsewhere and the fact that a properly fitted cylinder is nigh on impossible to break if fitted properly, decided it was OK to post.
If you want to be rude then go ahead you are obviously always right and know better than everyone else.
By the way how clever are you to mention all the much easier ways of opening doors i.e. Bumping locks? The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
I did think before posting this here. My decision was finally influenced by the fact a similar reply was posted on the diynot site. I would also say that to do this without taking the handle off should be nigh on impossible and most handles have the screws on the inside. I do however see your point.
this is what you said until others took your side you are right this information is freely available across the internet but it is fueled by people such as you putting it there or can you not see that.
i do however see your point [/quote]
and what do you see my point about ?
from the start i have said that this sort of advice should be sent by pm which i think it should whether the information is freely available else were or not .if there is one extra burglary a year because somebody has read this thread then in my opinion thats one two many  .you have had plenty of opportunity to remove your post but have chose not to .
and to cap it all we still dont know if its the barrel or the locking mechanism that has the problem and im quite sure that my methods will sort the problem out far quicker and cheaper than yours.your suggestion will damage barrel and lock plus possible damage to door sash .i have seen welds broke on the sash by people using this method
im not always right and if i have offended any body in any way i am sorry but in my opinion right or wrong there are certain things which should be sent privately especially when it involves securityif you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction0 -

You seem to say one thing to Catkins who only gave a widely known and used method to open a door with regards to saying things in the public domain. You then go on to tell everyone about bump keys which if used not only get you into a property without damage but invalidate the Insurance of the person burgled. Very clever mate! As to damage to door or lock we use this method in a legal context at least twice a day and have never had any damage. Not quite sure why you have a gripe against this poster or is it they have shown a simple method that will rob you of income?
OP seems to not be bothered either since there is no update from them.0
