Reclaiming Morgan Stanley/Barclaycard charges

I had a Morgan Stanley credit card, which is now a Barclaycard.

Are Barclaycard 'liable' for my credit card charge reclaim, or can they refuse to refund on the basis that they are a 'different company' and didn't charge the fees in the first place?

I'm assuming when they takeover the Morgan Stanley business, it includes assets and liabilities?
