Question- season ticket refund vs. changeover
Hi everyone,
I'm having problems working out my best options around my rail season ticket, and hoping someone can help me!
Quick background- I'm changing jobs at the end of January, and will no longer need the Zone 1-6 South West Trains annual season ticket (gold card) I currently have. In the new job I'll be travelling on the tube through zones 1-2 only. My season ticket is valid until the 10th of September 09.
Despite trawling the internet to figure out how season ticket refunds and changeovers are calculated I'm still none the wiser as to my best option.
Do I:
a) get a refund on what's left of my season ticket and then buy a Zone 1-2 annual travelcard from London Underground
or
b) exchange my current 1-6 for a 1-2 with South West Trains valid for the remainder of my current season ticket and pocket the difference.
Value of current zone 1-6: £1784
Value of zone 1-2: £1032
While I think I've calculated what a refund on my ticket would be (around £870... I think), I can't figure out exactly how much money I'd be getting back in the exchange situation.
Hope this all makes sense and someone can enlighten me! Thanks in advance.
