Single Fuel Offers?
Hello,
Just wanted to know if there was a company out there dealing in just singal fuel tarrif offers yet? Currently with Scottish Power but seem to have a big bill for one month £200 current bill from Npower was only £241 for 70 day.
we are on eco 7 and run storage heaters that will only come on in the eco 7 hours. I work the bill out and with have a ratio of %40 day %60 night. I can't understand how the bill can jump so high with the cold snap?
Any way just wanted to know if you have seen any offers for just electicity only?

I'm having the same prob with scottish power and storage heaters. A dramatic rise in price from nov to jan. £180 a month it works out at now. when going through uswitch, there didn't seem to be any alternative either.
I'm just hoping now that my council advances on their proposed replacing of this heating. I've also switched them all off for now.0 -
Where abouts do you live? I am in the south west do you think Scottish Power are cheap for this region? Just been working out on excel the differec in price and how much we have used. Works out that the npower are cheaper but i didn't know the price had gone up over november to january? So may be Scottish power are still cheaper. This is very confusing and hard to work out if you are saving money. Don't like Uswitch that much its very genral about savings and base these over the year? Any way any help with single fuel offers would be great.
I was told that ofgen had looked in to single fuel rates and said they should have the same deals as duel fuel. Is this right or was my information wrong?0 -

Dual fuel tariffs are normally different to what is available as one or the other.
Even if you only have electric though, there are still good deals available just for that. The more you use, the more you can save by switching! If you have e7 it also depends on your split between day and night.
Just go on the "hated" uswitch website with your current tariff details and it will give you the options. I personally find the comparision sites good, but I always double check what they are telling me!Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -
I don't hate the Uswitch it just dosn't seem that detailed on how you are making the saving. Eg I moved in to a flat south west from the north in October. We had Npower i know Npower are expensive so decied to change but and no data to put in the uswitch site. So made a rough guess and went with Scottish power.
I know making a guss is not good but tried my best with the information i had.
got my final bill from npower that covers 29sep to 7dec £241 for 70 days not bad.
The today I enter my meter reading in to Scottish power and they made a bill on the spot for 8dec to 7jan £206 for 31 ??? very high
any way check the amount of units used and we have used more but can't work out where in the home?
didn't think turning the storage heaters up on the input from 3 to 5 would make a big differance but seem to have?
Any way think I will have to get on to the landlord about the storage heaters. I think there 10 years old but not sure if the landlord will change them.0 -
Im in central east so price seems to be the same. My storage heaters never go past 3 but still are so expensive. Would hate to see my bill if I went to 5. I never realised they were costing so much until I entered my readings online every month. It doubled between dec and jan.
I've since been put on direct debit each month. which has drastically reduced my payments but obviously will be clearing arrears off for a while until it settles.
What dials do you have on yours? There is a lot of confusion over what is doing what on mine. I have input 1-5 (usually sits between 1 and 3) and a boost 1-5 (which I've been told i shouldnt be using as much).0 -
My controlls are a follows
left controll the vent output
right controll the input0 -
Basically the same but named differently then. My boost dial controls the vent/flapo. when i phoned energy efficient about it, they advised me that the boost was taking direct heat from the elec at day rate. Which I don't think is the case since all it was doing was opening the vent a little. As I say is all confusing. still in the dark but know I can't pay an excessive bill in any case, the reason i've switched them off.0

You say you have used more units - night, day or both? It's unfair to compare prices between the two bills as (a) prices have increased and (b) your usage pattern has changed. Calculate your second bill, i.e. number of units again using the prices from the first bill. Then you have a fair comparison.
The most energy-hungry appliances are heating, hot water and tumble dryers. You have increased your input by more than half as much again, and you probably have the storage heaters inputting 6 hours a day 7 days a week.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
I've done some working out : http://heat.krad.sent.com/Electirc.xls top part is nPower bottom is scottish power. I'm waiting on Scottish power to make a bill up showing the price per unit.
thanks for the advice will give it a go when the bill turns up.0
