Informing creditors after Bankcruptcy?

Hi everyone,
Has anyone taken it on themselves to inform their own creditors after their BR? I know that the OR does this at some stage but timescales seem to vary as to how quickly they do this.
Being the sort of person I am  I was thinking of drafting a letter and informing them myself - hopefully stopping a few phone calls...
What do you think?

I think Max did and had a good success rate (i.e. no calls afterwards) hopefully he'll see this and post as i can't remember it that well!
I didn't unless they phoned me, then quoted my BR number and eventually they all went away (did take a couple of months though):hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -

Thanks - I am not very good at hearing the phone ring over and over.....
and I certainly couldn't stand 2 months of it.....
Appreciate the prompt reply....... :T ...

I'd had the phone ringing almost constantly (:D) for about 2 years prior to bankruptcy so figured it'd be nice to have them phone and me basically tell them where to go rather than either avoid it or get shouted at

It was quite a nice feeling telling them to talk to the OR as the debt was no longer my responsibility! Most were actually very pleasant and sympathetic, one or two tried it on though!!:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -
I returned any letters I got after BR with a copy of my BO, without a stamp

Any phone calls I got I asked them to check the IS register while I was on the phone. All calls and letters stopped within a week or 2.
Had bailiffs for C/Tax visit the day of our interview, and another for parking ticket about 3 months ago, gave them both copies of my BO and they went happily on their way.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Certainly don't want bailiffs coming round - mind you, I am up to date on everything until December so haven't reached that stage thankfully....peachyprice wrote: »I returned any letters I got after BR with a copy of my BO, without a stamp

Tee hee, some of them I even re-used their envelope, I certainly wasn't going to waste money on them.

The harassment I've had from some third party debt collectors re-writing law.....
Yeah I would lurve to tell some of them to suck itMoney, money, money. Must be funny, in a rich man's world. :rolleyes:0 -
All i did was draft a quick letter and send it to each creditor, copy below, and enclosed a photcopy of my BR order.
It seemed to do the trick, no letters or phone calls since.
Name and address.
Account number :
I am writing this letter to inform you that as of xxth December 2008 i was adjudged to be bankrupt at xxxxxxxx County Court, case number, xxxxxxxx.
Any further correspondence is to be sent to the Official Receiver addressed on the copy of the Bankruptcy Order i have enclosed.
I am sending you this letter out of common courtesy, to advise you or any third party debt collection agency of my current position.
Your name typed.
Hope this helps the calls stop ! Costus.0 -
I did a similar letter as Costus but only sent it to the people who were still phoning. I never heard from them after my letter.
I do however still get bank statements from Clydesdale bank and Lloyds. I have started getting my online Mint statement too after months of not getting it. I haven't tried to open it though - don't even know what my passwords would be??
