Huge bill due to BG error!!

Update: Well, after receiving another threatening letter, I called BG and absolutely blew my top. When I asked the girl why our direct debit still hadn't been set up after the second time of arranging, she said that there was a problem with our bank details. I asked why someone hadn't phoned us to check our details or take the details from our gas account - but obviously this was too simple!! :rolleyes:

The girl was very understanding after I explained exactly what had happened and promised to get someone from the complaints dept to phone back by the end of the day.

Someone did call us back - in the end we were offered £100 "goodwill" discount and £25 in backdated dual fuel credit - we also had our monthly debit amount fixed at £60 instead of £98.:D

I'd very much doubt if this is fixed beyond the next reassessment- it will vary by your consumption as before.
Keep giving them accurate reads to make sure you are only paying for what you are using and not building up a further balance.

We submitted regular readings, but the bill is not created until month 4, which maybe higher than what you are paying on D/D.

We regulary contact them to produce a bill, so we know where we are.
