You need to provide some more information before anyone can give an opinion.
Do you both currently pay tax ?
Do you want to put your money with NS&I for security or is it for convenience as you can open their accounts in a Post Office ?
Do you need monthly income from it ? (Although with approx £10k you won't get much)
Do you need access to your money and if so how much notice can you give ?
If you don't need access to it for how long would you be prepared to leave it untouched ?0
