I would guess that it's deliberate to save battery life e.g. if you boot up and don't need to connect e.g to type a document etc, the WiFi would waste the battery. Is it really such a hardship to press Fn + F10 if you really do want to connect? Read the the user manual as it may be possible to change.

Not really, the person who uses it keeps forgeting to press FN+F10 key, as for the battery, the laptop is used via the mains all the time.

You should be able to download a user guide from somewhere.

Have you tried emailing Dixons ?

The point is that this is a portable device that will be optimised for maximum battery life, not being used from the mains.

Oh, I'm as useless as my OH when it comes to computers, the laptop is only ever used in the home.
