Home Insurance Renewal (churchill)

My home Insurance with Churchill is due for renewal on 28th February 2009. During February I will be away working for part of the month and on holiday for the other.
I wish to renew my policy with Churchill so I asked for the renewal price and any additional conditions so that I could sort it out and pay before I go away. There is no one at home who would be in a position to renew it on my behalf whilst I am away.
I was told that the policy would not be released until 28 days before the renewal date so couldn't do it.
I will now have to go to another company because as an existing customer I cannot apply for a fresh policy.
Is this the way to keep customers. I think not !!!!
Goodbye Mr Churchill, it's been nice knowing you. or has it?
P.S. I am a 64 year old who has never made a claim in my life and my home is occupied by family night and day.

I'm a little confused.
You say there is no-one at home who could press a few buttons on your computer or use the telephone, but that your entire family is occupying the house.
Surely you must ahve a responsible adult there?
Can you not get to the internet or telephone whilst you are working at all?0 -
And you might find that a lot of the other companies won't give you a quote unless the policy is due to start in the next 30 days which means you'll have to get your new policy to start before your old one expires.0

Hmm don't most insurance companies have an unoccupancy clause that kicks in after 30 days? So if you're out of you home for 30 days or more, a lot of your standard covers wouldn't be in force? Just a thought for you there! Or are you being difficult and saying that nobody can deal with this on your behalf?
Saying that you will 'have' to goto another company is not a loss to the big companies...probably why as a new customer you can get a quote 2 months before the required start date...cos their offers are to good to pass up!
Speak to them and see what they can do :rolleyes:0
