Free Cinema Tickets - Discussion thread

SeeFilmsFirst really doesn't seem to work very well. The moment I see free codes being posted for Belfast here or on HUKD I try to get tickets and EVERY time I try the screening is full. I only ever get emails from them every now and again and when I try to register for those tickets the screening is full, even when I click on the link within 1 minute of getting the email!
What am I doing wrong exactly not to be able to get any free tickets??!!:hello:v :money:0 -

I have never had a SFF code sent to me even though I have been registered a while. I think you have to be mega quick to get tickets literally within seconds of a code being posted. Although SFF do tend to keep releasing batchs of tickets up until the screening. So if you don't get tickets straight away then keep trying randomly up until a few hours before the screening and you may well be lucky. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Birmingham Childrens Hospital caring for my tiny and very poorly grandson who was born at 29 weeks. Thanks to them he is getting a little stronger every day.:A:A:A0

If you haven't done so I'd suggest you all read my post that's near the start of the CODES ONLY thread.
I've seen well over 250 free preview films (probably nearer 300) through SFF, and probably over 400 including all other free offers that occasionally come round. (eg Momentum, Film Factory etc.)
I'd guess that 99% of SFF codes ARE NEVER sent out by SFF themselves in emails to registered members.
I bet only 1% get sent direct and that tends to be ONLY in the day or two before a screening is due to take place. (AND, I think, when SFF know that numbers for particular screenings have significant seats "unclaimed")
I've probably had somewhere between 12 and 20 over the years.
The VAST majority are distributed through, in a promotional capacity, newspapers, magazines (some that are NOT on sale in newsagents but are organisations internal distributions for members eg, Nurses, Yougov and similar), the associated websites of these newspapers & magazines & organisations, and occasionally a few other websites.
And just for the record, I'm NOT subscibed to the CODES ONLY thread to receive the "instant email notifications" of new updates - so you don't always have to be quick to get tickets

I have managed to get tickets for every single film that has come up so far except for star trek which only had one code and clashed with anther film i was going to see at the same day and time. I always check the film codes thread regularly, you just have to be quick and persistent.0
