My Sister's Keeper was a real tear-jerker last night. I literally am proud to say that I cried buckets......... Didn't like the mother figure played by Cameron Diaz .....she was extremely 'irritating'.
I think it was a good 8/10:heart2: Kittycoocat0 -
I didn't cry, neither did my OH or my mum. I was just appauled they changed the ending from the book - far too generic and nowhere near as moving!
I'd say the movie is a real tear jerker if you haven't read the book, but if you have you're likely to be dissapointed.
agreed - although when I told people what the ending to the book was they said they thought the ending to the film worked better! I think you had to read the book to understand the impact that the ending had though and just telling people it doesn't sound as moving.
girls next to me were sobbing, I was just sitting there wondering how they'd changed the ending (I read somewhere that they had but not how). Thought the last 5-10mins was too drawn out too.2008: £783.12 - 2009: £6,401.15 - 2010: £4,230.61 - 2011: £8720 - 2012: £2,041.89

I imagine that to be what she is like in real life too - I don't really like her and thought someone less well known would have worked just as well.2008: £783.12 - 2009: £6,401.15 - 2010: £4,230.61 - 2011: £8720 - 2012: £2,041.89

I've tried endlessly to like this actress but she didn't convince me what so ever of her role.....A lesser well-know actress who you can believe is a mother in this predicament was needed.
What was the ending in the book then???? Did she get the op and survive??:heart2: Kittycoocat0 -

You will see my sisters keeper, click on the picture, on next screen click on the blue "click here to claim your tickets" writing, then either log in or register. You will then be directed to the booking screen and down the botton of the screen is where you enter CULTUREPLUS (capitals) where it says movie password.0 -

I have to say I did cry all the way through but it helped that I have a sister and I kept thinking "if she was ill how would I feel?". My Mum and Sister had both read the book and saw it with me and both said they didn't like the changes from the book. They didn't find it as uplifting as the book or as moving (though cried a little bit at the end).
I think if you haven't read the book it definately is sad. On the by, someone in the cinema actually laughed at the bit where the one sister was cleaning the other one up in bed. Personally not sure how or why this was funny! If you're that imature to find humour in that bit then why go to a movie like that? Worryingly there weren't children in the theatre so really not sure who or why this happened.Never give up the dream! :beer:0 -
Do they check for the newspaper cut these days for The Times offers? I have managed to get two tickets for Public Enemies so I would like to know if I need to get the paper this Sunday. We are not The Times readers in my household.
In other things, having just read in the forums the "real" ending of My Sister's keeper, I think the book one was a better one.
Cheers

Just received the TotalFilm newsletter and the Taking of Pelham code isn't working. Just get a:
There was a problem with your code. Please try again.
message in SFF.
Is it that it is used up or hasn't it become live yet?
The code is 311203 according to the newsletter.
EDIT: Just seen a "not working yet" message in no discussion so I guess that answers my question0 -

Thanks for not puting the ending. I may read the book as I am curious. My son reads this authors books but has not read this one and didn't intend to after seeing the film.0
