Help security enabling Netgear router for wired PC and wireless laptop?

Hi there
I have an old PC running Windows 98SE wired to a Netgear DG843G v2 router and the a newish laptop running windows XP Home connected wirelessly to the router which connects to the internet by sharing the other PC's connection. At the moment, when I connect wirelessly from the laptop, my connection is not security enabled, and I'd like it to be. 98SE control panel is completely different and I can't/don't know how to see the security settings. I've done a search and read BenL's advice for doing this for one PC but I don't know how this would apply for my setup. I hope someone can please guide me through this because I'm not very confident about messing around with my PC settings and of course, I want them both to work afterwards!
Do I setup the router from the laptop or old PC? Presumably, I will need to replicate some settings on both. I cannot change the PC settings from the laptop, or vice versa for that matter.
At the moment everything works fine for both machines - just not security enabled.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
