TV Wall Mounting (BackBoiler)

Hi,

We have recently moved into a new flat that has a fully serviced Baxi Bermuda fire (back boiler) in the lounge.
as it is our first flat space is a bit of a problem and to save some space we were wondering if it was possible to wall mount our TV above the Fireplace with the fire place??

Each to their own on this one mate.

Loads of myths and theories for and against.

I know someone who has blown up 2 plasma TV's becasue of excess heat from mounting it above his fire. Space / air for cooling is already restricted by simply mounting the TV to the wall, mounting above an operational fire only amplifies the heat trapped and some TV's will not be able to cool themselves and may blow power supplies or other electronic components.

Saying that, I know more people who've never had any trouble mounting above a fireplace than the one person who happened to blow 2 up!

You pay your money, you take your choice. For me, I can't afford to risk blowing up a £1000 worth of telly so I re-arranged the whole lounge so the fire is on one wall and TV is on the opposite wall (wall mounted). But I appreciate this option might not be possible in your flat.

Can't help much more than that mate.

    Steve.
