Help from you experts please!!!

I'm looking to get a credit card but just dont know where to start. I only want it for emergancy transactions or larger items i.e- a t.v as your money is better protected. I will be paying off in full every month but wanted to know who people would suggest. I have a good credit rating and am over 21 so shouldnt have any problems.

Thanks

I would go for a cashback or point cards, depending on where you shop :)

Something like a Shell card will give you 1% towards fuel if you drive, whereas a Tesco one will give you clubcard points. There are also short term offers such as 5% cashback for 3 months with others.

when you say good credit what do you mean do you currently have credit agreements already if not you wont have a good credit rating you will have no credit rating which is also bad as its hard to get on the ladder if you get back with what you have already ppl will be able to recommend cards for you
    you cant change yesterday
but you can make tomorrow better
  • If you are going to pay off in full I would definitely recommend a cashback card.

as darcyvuqua says, theres a difference between having a good credit rating and not having a bad one ....

If you don't actually have much of a credit history at the moment then probably your best starting point is whoever you bank with, as they'll know you and be able to see that you are financially responsible (you are, aren't you).

If you really do have a good credit rating, then you could try a cashback card (e.g Amex, although not all places accept them - Visa or mastercard is more widely used) or one that will offer you something - for example, if you drive a lot and buy your petrol from ASDA, using an ASDA credit card will automatically reduce the price by 2p a litre
  • I dont have any debt, have paid my mortgage off in full, own my own car. only payments i make are car insurance, council tax, sky, phone bill, gas, water etc

By good credit rating i mean there is nothing wrong with it.

I would get a Nationwide Visa credit card.

If I only had 1 card, this is the one i would have.

This is the one consistantly I would never close out of mine, i do go away a few times a year though so that is what swings it for me.
