There is actually two, one on non freesat mode Lux HD (you can get non freesat mode in the user setting on Humax HD freesat box) then theres no strictly a channel ITV HD a few porgrams a week and occasionally movie (you have to select red button when promoted)
Lux HD isn't part of the Freesat line up tho', it is a load of rubbish and users need to faff about in the menu to get it.
BBC HD may well be OK, but a few hours a day of one channel, is hardly worth spending good money on IMO.

Quite different to Freeview, no Dave ...No UK History, no Sky News, no Sky 3, plenty of other dross, most of which is on FreesatfromSky anyway.
So you saying it's bad because the BBC repeats some stuff but has new content, and you point to Freeview channels that pretty much only show repeats as to why Freeview is better?
The main reason these channels are not yet on Freesat is historic. The distribution contracts were signed before Freesat came along and they signed up to use Skys Encryption scheme so the signals are only recieved by viewers in the UK. The broadcaster would have had to pay a significant amount more for the rights if they wanted to broadcast outside the UK, and Sky had a system in place (and I'm sure it comes at a cost).
Freesat comes from the Astra 2D satellite which is supposed to have a tighter UK based footprint so this is not needed to restrict it to the UK only. I predict as the contracts come to be renewed more will appear on Freesat as they won't want to pay Sky for the encryption and appearing in the EPG.
Freesat from Sky is just a way for Sky to cash on on the brand, and the knowledge that as once you have the reciever and card in the machine your more likely to be tempted to upgrade it to a full sky subscription than if you don't have the box.Inactive wrote:Freesat need to get their act together.

Nope, I am saying that there is nothing on Freesat that justifies it's cost, you can get better quality channels IMO on Freeview, the rest of the stuff on Freesat, apart from one part time HD Channel effectively can be got on a FreesatfromSky Receiver.0
