Dell Dimension 1100 offer - missing hard drive space?

Options
Hi there
I brought one of the dell dimension 1100 systems when they had it at £292.58 a few weeks ago. In my order I was promised by Dell a 160 GB hard drive ... I have today checked through my computer the capacity of my hard drive and it says 145 GB. Am i missing something here  would the other 15 GB be hidden somwhere? Has anybody else noticed this?
I have emailed dell but im not sure how long they will take to reply.
Any ideas?

  • When a hard drive is quoted in a shop, is is quoted as so many GB but this is made up of units of 1,000... i.e. 1kB= 1,000B and 1MB=1,000*1,000B and 1GB=1,000*1,000*1,000B. However, computers read memory in terms of 1024B so, 1GB=1024*1024*1024B. Therefore, 160GB would be recognised as 149GB (160,000,000,000/1024/1024/1024). I would gess that the remainder is the Windows Partition (instead of a full windows xp disc).

    HTH :D
