Cant get MPRN number!!!

Hello

Just a quick bit of help as i have tried everything else.
I have just moved in to a new flat which has been built in an old bar resteraunt. The building it is in only had 1 address. Now this conversion has taken place and there is a new resteraunt which has retained the old address and 8 apartments with an entrance door to the side which have been given a new address and postcode. Upon moving in i found out that N-Power are supplying the electric. However no one is supplying the gas. I couldnt register with n-power as they needed the MPRN number and upon contacting the helpline to obtain this number they said that they couldnt find our new address and could only find the address for the resteraunt below and so couldnt help. I need advice as although the couple of free months with no gas bill has been nice i want to pay for it as i dont want a huge bill 1-2 years down the line.

I hope this all made sense.
Any help or advice will be gratefully recieved.

Are you renting or is a leasehold? If you are renting write to the landlord or letting agent, if you have purchased the lease write to the management company or freeholder. This sort of problem is what these people are paid to sort out.

Meter readings should have been taken when you moved in, were they? Where is the meter located? Have you spoken to the restaurant manager/ owner about their meter?

It requires a supplier to register a new MPRN with NGT but what may have happened in your case is that the flats have been built and meters fitted without a supplier be appointed to it. If NGT cant find your MPRN, contact any supplier and ask them to register you as a new connection. They will then apply for an MPRN.

It will have an MPRN have you given them your meter number? somtimes properties are supplied by an independent transporter such as GTC or ES pipelines.

Does it say on your meter who it is owned by, as it may not be national grid.

You need to identify the Gas Transportor. If it is an IGT (Idependant Gas Transportor) contact them directly.

However if it a retained Network NGT, contact Xoserve who act as an intermidetory for NGT. Their number is 0870 608 1524. They hold the MPRNS and suppliers for these MPRNS.

They do also hold some IGT MPRN's but not all.

If Xoserve cannot find the MPRN they will issue one to you and ask you to register the new supply with a supplier. Do not ask directly for a supplier to create an MPRN as if there is one and they cant find it and create another you could have two and create a whole host of problems.
