I love M&S beetroot crisps but at £3 a packet I had to give them up, and thankfully the M&S in the city centre doesn't stock them anymore. I've got some beetroot at home so I'm going to attempt to make my own!
Just an update, tried this tonight and they didn't turn out too well, maybe beetroot has a higher water content!?*wonders when they will make dressing gowns acceptable day wear?*No new toiletries challenge - use up the stash first!NSD Jan 2/150 -
I've never tried vegetable crisps in the microwave. I normally use the deep fat fryer (unhealthy I know:o) to make parsnip crisps. I use a veg peeler to slice the parship into long thin bits and then chuck in the fryer for a few minutes until they are nice and crispy. Yum!0

Shame about the Americanism in the email - crisps not chips.

I have one of those betterware crisp jobbies too, it does work well but I managed to find mine at a car boot sale and it cost me all of 20p0

You need to sprinkle the slices with salt and leave them for about half an hour before microwaving them. This removes excess moisture. Same for all vegetables, but beetroots are particularly moist so might need quite a long salting.0 -
Sorry to bump this old thread back up but I had to say I found it randomly, tried it (with potatoes and beetroot) and WOW. Much cheaper than the bags of vege crisps (and it saves me a journey to the supermarket)
Thanks...for not deleting threads0 -
Just came across this old thread and looking forward to giving the HM crisps a go over the festive season.
I don't have a fancy crisp stand thowill just need to make do with kitchen roll
What vegetable crisps have you have most success with? And would it be better making them in the oven rather than a microwave?I'm a Debt Free WannabePAID £4400/£6100 = 72.1% Busted!

not tried baking them in the microwave yet but have had successful experiments with potato and parsnip (+olive oil and garlic) in the oven, on high for 5 minutes0
