Transferring Cash ISA to S&S ISA

I am looking to transfer a proportion of my Nationwide Cash ISA to a Legal and General S&S ISA.

I've not contributed to my Cash ISA this tax year and already hold S&S ISA with L&G that I have contributed to this tax year.

Do the transferred monies go into my existing L&G S&S ISA or is a new one created?, if a new one has to created to accomodate the transfer it would cause a problem as I can only contribute to one S&S ISA per year.

Is it also the case that S&S ISAs cannot be transferred into a Cash ISA?

I would imagine it would go into the existing one, you could always phone L&G? You would have to get them to transfer it anyway so I am sure they would be able to put it in the existing one.

And yes it is the case that you can't transfer shares ISA back into a cash one.
