Ipod Nano Security code Help!

Options
My dad got an IPOD Nano for his Xmas and he has been putting a couple of songs on it. However, I have just had a phone call from him saying that he has managed to put a security code lock on it and has no idea how to get it off. Plus he thinks he has changed the numbers.

What a wally!!

Anybody know how to take this off or does he have to take it back to the shop he bought it from to get the security code removed.

Into the bargain I have spent the last 2 hours on the phone to him helping him set up his new PC and due to being a technophobe it took him ages to do all the basics. What a great way to spend a Saturday!

Thanks for all of your help.

If you use ipod updater with your cable, can you not reset your nano to factory settings ...

I think you need the second way.

    From the Apple site: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302255

    Unlocking iPod

You can unlock iPod in one of two ways:
    • Enter the combination on iPod using the same controls you used to set the combination. If you do not enter the correct combination, the digits onscreen flash red. When you enter the combination correctly, iPod will unlock and return you to the last viewed screen.
    • Connect iPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one iPod synced with), and open iTunes. When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked.
If you can't unlock iPod using either of these methods, you can restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. Please note that this will erase all data on your iPod. Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to iPod.
