Outlook Express Crashed

Hello. My OE has just crashed & has wiped all my stored emails. (No I haven't backed up).

Any advice on whether I can retrieve them from a hidden folder or something please?

Try seareching for .dbx files ,I had this recently and the files were there but OE "forgot" them.

do a search for *.dbx and see what it brings up. It's 'possible' it's reset the store folder to a different location

I back up the lazy way , I have a Hotmail address that I forward any mails to that are important. If you pay the £14.99 a year subscription to Hotmail you get a 2000MB mailbox - it should hold everything that you ever wanted: I also use the hotamil addy if I sign up to anything on the web, saves all the carp arriving in my real mailbox. :cool:

gmail accounts are 2gig and free with an invite.

TBH, I started to pay for Hotmail so that I could import it into Outlook, not sure whether I could do that with Gmail? Best of both worlds - online and inbox; also means that I can drag and drop main mail into Hotmail. :j

Using tips here I have been able to find what I needed to recover.

I will back up regularly from now on (if I remember!).
