yeah, I just read it as an all electric usage with a possible calor gas being used as doesn't state. and only talks about "an old meter". singular.

Only trying to rule out factors to help the situation in the friends case. which was the question.

I can't see any reference to calor gas. just says a gas fire so I assumed it was one that was plumbed in etc.

    I could be wrong though.

Ha ha no, it's the house that's old, not her!! She's 26! He he, I will tell her that though!

    Ooops. Must read things properly.

I don't seen much point in speculating until the OP comes back with sufficient information to make a proper comparison.

How does she heat the rest of the house?
What heating does she have in her bedrooms & bathroom?
    Does she have electric blankets.
How does she heat her water, if she has no boiler is she using an immersion heater?

  • I would never assume that the direct debit/ payment plan amount is the same as the cost of the electricity used. There are many things that can affect this such as the debt or credit balance on an account or if the payment is based on estimates.

The only way to do a comparison is by measuring kWh.
  • Hi Guys,

Thanks for all your posts - sorry I haven't got the useful info to hand...will post back after I've had a chance to see her & ask her to bring a bill :)

She doesn't have heating anywhere else in the house, just lots of nice thick socks & warm duvets!
