Terminal illness

I started the process to reclaim bank charges in 2008, shortly before the FSA decision that banks didn't have to pay out.

I am now terinally ill with cancer ( I receive DLA under the Special Rules) and because one of the side effects of my condition (extreme fatigue) I really don't want to get involved in a long, drawn-out exchange of correspondence. Can you advise me if it's worth just asking for them to make a decision because of terminal illness - my husband is 65 in a few days and will retire. I had never anticipated finishing work full time and have acted as an Indepent Social Worker. I tell you this information because I wondered if there was a chance of caliming under finanical harship. Thanks, Mags

If you believe you are under financial hardship then you can claim. The hardship waiver is on my signature. The main bits you need to read is PAGE 11. If you feel you fall under that category then write to the bank and add a paragraph and state that you feel you should be classed as under hardship because of x. y and z. They may well send out an income and expenditure form.
To be absolutely certain, did you file a case in county court because the above approach will not work. If you need further advice just shout.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

  • Many thanks for your reply. I'm not clear what "The hardship waiver is on my signature. The main bits you need to read is PAGE 11" means - I keep promising myself a day or so to really get to grips with the site but never seem to have the time. I'm sorry for taking up your time about something which is probably straightforward. I really appreciate your getting back to me.
  • it's this link from the bottom of natweststaffmembers signature line:

    http://www.fsa.gov.uk/pages/Doing/Re...sp_monthly.pdf
(the FSA Waiver is due to be either renewed or ended on 26th January 2009)

Just click on the link (written in blue) Maggie and then go to page 11 when the file has loaded up.

Wish you the best with your claim and your illness.
  • Many, many thanks. Found the info in no time and recognise why I should apply. I appreciate your good wishes too. Mags
