npower prepay electric key meter
Hi there,
Anyone else had a problem where the "signal" that npower sends to the key meter never gets through?
I have had this happen at least 3 times now.
This seems to be messing up the amount they seem to think I owe them.
Firstly back in July 2008 they were going to update the meter to take £6 month off my account to pay the outstanding debt.
This didn't happen, I didn't think anything more about it as the first £6 came off without a problem.
I called them up before christmas to ask how much debt I still had to repay and told me that I had only paid off £6 in nearly 9 months which is completely false, I have paid a lot more off than that.
They also told me that my emergency credit would go up to £10 over the winter period.
The amount is still stuck at £5.
Is my meter or key playing up?
The meter is registering the topups fine.

So you're saying that the shop that tops up my key could be the problem?
However they did say when I rang them before christmas that for some reason the signal wasn't sent when it was supposed to be sent, I did receive a letter on 30th December saying they were going to send the signal again.
They also so said to leave it 2 to 3 top ups for the signal to get through, which is a little strange to me?BR 4/10/07

OK your OUTSTANDING DEBT will be shown on display "S" of your meter. To check this put your key into the meter and scroll through the meter displays, which are all lettered, eg.. Display A shows your CREDIT .
If you check display "T" this shows your debt payment per week.
Not sure why Emergency Credit would be changed, but to check that I THINK it's on display "R",
If the debt amount, debt payments or emergency credit value is not correct, if you have a Talexus meter (JUST ASK THEM) ask for them to give you a TAG or RTI number with the changes on it. This is basically an 8 digit number that you would take to the shop with your key. If the shop use this tag correctly, the changes will be updated into your meter as soon as you put your key into the meter. In my experience, straight after using TAG would be a great idea.
If you don't have a Talexus key meter. Ask for a key to be sent to you with the updates on it.0
