DLA decisions can take upto 12 weeks(sometimes faster)if you hear nothing for 9 weeks suggest you contact them,if you have given your gp`s details then they will usually contact him/her,they will use this and what you have said on the application to make a decision,if they cant make a decision then you may have to have a medical
    good luck

they usually get in touch with your doctor , big form for him to fill in , and your hospital for any reports if your been treated there and anywhere else. then they get all the info you sent them and compare the notes together to get decision on the facts , then if still not sure . a doctor visits you, to see you in your home life. i had visit by doctor 22 dec and still awaiting outcome .I think you get doctor visit anyway , i got 2 day notice ,but heard it can be even a day notice ,but your in all day anyway poorly so this makes no difference he can come anytime .
the truth is out there ... on these pages !!

  • Actually a Decision Maker will decide what evidence is most suitable for your case. That could be a GP report (8 questions is not exectly a big form and the questions were set by the BMA a few years ago), hospital report, appropriate specialist (CPN, OT etc), recent IB85 report if you are already receiving IB, school report (for children) or an examination from a HCP (Health Care Professional). Each case is taken on its own merits. If you get the someone who knows you best page filled in by a medical professional the DM might not need to get any extra evidence.
DLA is a self reporting benefit. The more evidence you can supply the easier it will be for the DM to make the correct decision. And quicker too.

My two sons get disability, but neither DLA claims have had GP evidence to back it up - i know ive asked the GP, hospital and the paediatrician, and weve not had anyone come out to us either.
