not parked correctly in bay - couldnt see lines due to grit and darkness

hi all, i wonder if i could get some advice.
i got to work this morning at 7.30am. it was still dark and there was grit on the roads. as such that i couldnt see the parking lines correctly, so parked in accordance with other vehicles on the road. the road has a parallel parking section with fairly lengthy boxes. i went out to move my car at lunch time and got there to see a red notice on my windscreen stating that i had contravened code 24 - not parked correctly within the markings of the bay or space. admittedly in the light of day, my car appeared to be well over the lines and not in a space. however had i known this at 7.30am i would have made sure i was in a correct space. there are no signs stating parking regs but for when parking is allowed and how long for.
this is a £25 fine if paid within within 14 days, which increases to £50 after that time. the penalty notice appears to be filled out correctly.
im wondering if this is worth contesting?

What council was this? To be able to help members like Neil will need to see scans of all the pcn, this means both sides. Its amazing how often a "fine" looks genuine but has fatal flaws in it.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

In order for the experts to give any advice you need to post the ticket (back and front) See how to here:im wondering if this is worth contesting?

plus if possible photos of the bay itself (incl end markings) as they may be non-compliant. see examples here:

Don't forget to erase identifying numbers etc.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
