Virgin Media Question

in Phones & TV
I am with virgin (have been on cable since it started) for my broad band, TV and phone. I went online today and saw that the Broadband Size: XL bundle (Phone and Broadband 20meg) was £31.
I am paying £48 for the two (I get the TV free, I don't want the TV as I don't have a TV). So I called them they were quite off with me saying that package was only for new customers taking a phone line. I find this strange as it was not an opening offer price (the opening offer price is £10.00 a month for the first 6 months) this is the price for those services in that bundle.
As they would not give me the package I canceld my phone line as it is not used and they said they would need to get the TV box (which I asked them to take 4 years ago and they said they could not - hope it is ok it has been in the shed since then). Now my broadband is £36.
I still don't know why I could not have the phone and BB deal but I will get the phone back on later in the year when the new 50 meg BB come into my area and get them both for £46. I pointed out to the person that that would be a cheaper deal when it is out than what I am currently paying but she was a little bit daft and did not see the sence in it.
Are the bundles not open to existing customers?

You need to speka with the customer retention dept, just tell them you are thinking of leaving and that you are ringing to see what they can offer you first.
It's worked for me two years running.
£28 = freeview tv/2mb Bb and Talk unlimintedPayment a day challenge: £236.69
Jan Shopping Challenge: £202.09/£250
Frugal Living Challenge: £534.64/150000 -
Ring again. You'll probably get another person to talk to you. If you don't get a better deal, ask to be put through to disconnections. Might work for you." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."
