im not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes...
I phoned up place a few days ago asking if i could return an item. the reason was that i recieved two for xmas and play was the one i wanted to return it to because i bought it myself (my own xmas present). the problem was that when it arrived it didnt have any packaging, it was open like i had already listened to it....which i had not. Play's website said items can be returned in an unopened condition. so i phoned up play and let them know the situation. the lady on the phone was really helpful and said i could return the item as 'not as described' rather than 'unwanted' so that i could be re-embursed for postage- great. She authorised this and sent me and email with my returns code. I sent it via first recorded last friday. how long do you think the return will take to process as i havent recieved any emails or anything confirming they have recieved it. any experiences with returning to play.com would be appreciated.
thanks

I sent something back on the 21st (they sent me the wrong item) and they received it on the 24th.
They didn't ship the replacement until Jan the 4th (according to their site).
They refunded the postage about a week after they got it back - which didn't bother me too much.
Returns policy was pretty easy overall although as with you they never confirmed receipt - just checked on the royal mail site.

Can't post links, just add the prefix to that ^
My question: How long does it take for a replacement item to be delivered to you after you've got a returns authorisation?Faulty or damaged item
You may return any item that was faulty or damaged when received for a full refund. We will refund your card once we have received and processed the item. In these cases we will also refund the return postage.
Returning an unwanted item
You may return any unopened item within 7 days of receiving it, for a full refund. We will refund your card once we have received and processed the item.- We will only refund delivery costs if the return is a result of our error.
- We cannot refund or exchange an opened item unless it is faulty, or if the item was sent to you through our error
How we test returned items
We test every single return. If a returned item is found not to be faulty by our independent test centre we will return the item to you and you will be liable for the postage. This will not exceed £2.00 for DVDs, CDs and video games. Postage costs for electronics and gadgets will depend on the item.
We advise you to check any DVD, CD or video game on a second machine and to check any gadget and its instructions carefully before returning it. We will not refund postage for items found to be in good working order.
We are not responsible for incompatibilities caused by DVD players that have been modified to disable regional encoding.0 -
A little bit of advice
If you ever have to return anything where the company organizes a courier to collect always ask the driver for a reciept. they dont like doing it but its for your own protection. The solving of a problem lies in finding the solvers.0
