Anecdotal new information... I've been half-heartedly (no, think 1%-edly) looking for work. Sent out 4 CVs... and got a phone call this morning.

A role has come up and the man asked me what salary I was after, so I said "I was after £35-45k, what've you got" and he said the role was originally planned at that level, but they've now had a re-think and want to recruit somebody a level down from that at £25k so in 1-2 years they're ready for the higher role. I said "House prices are back to 2003-2004, that is what I was earning in 1999.... yep, put me in for it, I'd rather be ahead of the market".

So, might have a job interview at 1999 wages level. Which wouldn't make me angry at all. More grateful anybody sniffed at my CV in this market.

    Wishing you loads of luck!!!

Is it the sort of job you want to do?

It meets 90% of my extensive criteria.
Not even filled in the form yet .... but I have checked house prices, distances, rental prices, the route, thought about when I'd move and how I'd achieve that....

Cart ..... somewhere out there is a horse.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Good luck Pastures.

Crunch has been interesting so far. Lost some income from interest on savings, but the savings are for a house and house prices are falling too, so who knows.

Good luck pastures. Fingers and toes crossed for you.

Not doing too bad at the moment. Lost savings interest, natch, but like LIR am saving for a house so not too bothered about that.

    Feeling bloody lucky really.
  • Hope you get it! The fact they are ringing you before you've even applied sounds good.

Good luck PN with that job. If it's really 90% OK, that means the carp factor is lower than most!

We are OK at the mo, thanks to fixed rate savings paying way above what they're offering now. That won't end till next Christmas. Meanwhile, I have the choice of playing Mr Dangerous by stuffing another £300k from the house sale into those accounts, (will take them way over £50k,) or being Mr Sensible & settling for something very modest from safe institutions like Northern Wreck. I shall probably end up as Mr Slightly Silly and do a bit of both.

We've never been big spenders. When the house sale finally went through, we splashed out and did a 14 mile round trip to the area's finest, award-winning chippy.

Can't wait until I can say the same sort of thing to everyone on here.

Not sure how the credit crunch has affected me, my fuel is cheaper now than it was but my heating has gone through the roof, I am finding some food a little cheaper although the majority of it is still the reduced stuff at the end of the day...just that more things are being reduced and to better prices than before.

The job market is def dwindling, before I had hundreds of jobs to look through and it took an age but now there seem to be very few in this area and it takes me less than an hour.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
