Abbey £75 Cashback card

Can I qualify for the £75 cashback on the new Abbey Credit card if I used to have a Abbey credit card the other year (I did close the card down) or is the deal for new customers only??

  • Is this via a cash back site or directly through Abbey? Can you read the terms and conditions anywhere? It is possible that it will say new customers only - cannot have held an account within the last 12 months.
Sounds a good deal if you can get it. What are the interest rates etc like?

Can you put a link to the deal.
I haven't heard of it and I'm interested.

It's not new - it replaced the Abbey Zero card (a few months ago?) for online applications - and it's the only one on their website...

To get ££ up front either do the Vanquis £25 http://www.quidco.com/vanquis-visa-card/ or the Amex £34 http://www.quidco.com/finance/credit-cards/american-express/ offers on quidco.

Helps you through the credit crunch!

Have the foreign purchases benefits of the Abbey Zero card been ended by this card? I note on the interest rates page it states "2.95% of the amount of any Transaction in a foreign currency" which appears to imply you are now charged for purchases not just cash withdrawals. Am I reading this correctly?

I've checked my latest T&Cs varation on Abbey Zero (came into force 6th October 2008) and the foreign currency transactions are definitely charged at 0% still.

Where are you getting this 2.95% figure from ?

I clicked on the above link from YorkshireBoy which takes you to Abbey's info about the new card and then click on the info about interest rates under which it states the following about charges. I may be reading it wrongly but it seems to imply a charge for any foreign transaction? But as said I may be wrong.

    Charges apply as follows
3% on Balance Transfers (minimum £5). 3% on Cash Transactions (minimum £3). 3% on Credit Card Cheques (minimum £3). 2.95% of the amount of any Transaction in a foreign currency. £5 for each copy of a statement. £5 for each copy voucher. £10 dormancy fee

That is not the Abbey Zero card, it is the new Abbey cashback card.
  • Yes, apparently the Abbey Zero card is no longer available for new customers.
