Everything AND the kitchen sink

Hob brite for me every time - We're doing up our kitchen at the moment, and took delivery of our new too too expensive (but lovely) cooker yesterday. It came with a tiny packet of freebies that were provided with it (including hob brite) gave a BIG CLEAR WARNING not to use Bar Keepers Friend. Our previous oven had a ceramic hob, and provided you clean as you go, they stay looking great for years. If the oven thermostat had been even remotely reliable, that cooker would still be in our kitchen now.
Re stainless steel sinks - we've had a worktop which includes intergrated sink (& half-bowl) and as a part of the refurb; it has s/steel liners. You've guessed it - with three weeks it started to rust. I won't bore you with the details here, but needless to say, kitchen suppliers Magnet have had the benefit of my opinions on this, and following a recorded delivery letter to their managing director, are taking a renewed interest in trying to sort the problem out. May do a thread on it, to see whether others have had similar experiences, and how they fared - if I can stir up the energy!Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0 -
Well just to update.
My hob is NOT a ceramic one. It's a 'Gas on Glass' hob as described by AEG the manufacturer. And they told me to only use warm soapy water on it.
I must admit I had a go with Astonish the other day and it doesn't appear to have come to any harm but I wouldnt wash my windows with Astonish so I think I should keep it away from the hob !!
As it's glass it is easy to get the muck off, but keeping it looking shiny is a challenge - it shows every little finger print or water spash mark.
Mandragora, I'd be interested to see the thread about your sink; it's amazing how much of an interest these companies take when you write direct to the MD isnt it?0 -
Just a quick ques, I have just received my Nigella Lawson Stockpot Steamer pan today from ebay 2nd hand. It is lovely but needs a good old clean!
It is stainless steel and there are black marks inside the pan.
Outside on the base of the pan it is a tarnished gold colour.
I have soda crystals, stardrops, persil non bio liquid, bleach, astonish orange paste and white vinegar. Which would be best to use without buying anything else?
I have searched for some ideas and these seem to be some recommendations. Which ones have worked for people as it seems to be a bit hit and miss!
The local Poundland has some of that Astonish Cleaner you can use on stainless steel last time I looked if it comes to buying something else.
Thanks!

my grandparents owned their own kitchen company and recommended this to their customers and used it themselves too. (This was in Germany)0
